Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest action-packed game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating chaos and insanity with similar glee, all while telling captivating, politically driven tales. Little surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose work have represented all of those things.

Show Details

Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game property, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' style by introducing a different backdrop and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we have no details on what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their steady confidence and backing.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology show. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can shift from season to season, while always exploring the core of people through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to work with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, daring approach to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
