Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice late to take a shock advantage. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
